Privacy

The short version: we built drivenerve so there is almost nothing to have a policy about. Here is the rest, in plain language, for every region we serve.

No accounts, no cookies, no ad trackers, no analytics. Every calculator runs entirely in your browser: your inputs never leave your device and we cannot see them. The only personal data we process is an email address you actively choose to send us.

Why there is no cookie banner

Consent banners exist for sites that store tracking identifiers on your device. This site sets no cookies and runs no trackers, so under the EU ePrivacy rules and their UK equivalent there is nothing to ask consent for. The device storage we do use (below) is limited to functionality you explicitly invoke.

What stays in your browser

Some tools remember your progress in your browser's localStorage so a page reload doesn't erase your work: the Test Drive Check (key dn-tdc) and the Driving Position Setup (dn-dpos). This data is created by your own use of the tool, never transmitted anywhere, and removed when you press Reset or clear your browser data.

Email you send us

If you write to hello@drivenerve.com — a bug report, a shop waitlist request, a partnership enquiry — we use your address only to answer you. We never share or sell it, we do not add you to any list, and we keep the correspondence only as long as the conversation needs.

There is no newsletter today. If we ever launch one, it will be strictly consent-first with double opt-in, this policy will describe it before the first issue goes out, and every message will carry a working unsubscribe actioned within days.

Hosting logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, request path, user agent, timestamp) for security and capacity purposes, as virtually every host does. We rely on legitimate interest for this, retain logs only as long as the host's standard rotation, and do not combine them with anything else.

If analytics or affiliate links arrive

We may add analytics in the future. Our commitment: it will be a cookieless, privacy-first service that counts pageviews without identifying anyone, it will be named in this policy before it runs, and it will not require a consent banner because it will not store anything on your device. Likewise, if we ever add affiliate links, each one will be clearly labeled, they will never alter a tool's result or verdict, and this policy will describe what (if anything) the affiliate partner learns — our intent is: nothing beyond the click itself.

The standalone apps

lapcost.com, firstlap.app, carbuildcheck.com, brakepadfinder.com, carpriceindex.com, driveweekend.com and carwashindex.com are part of the same family and follow the same principle: no logins, calculations on your device. Each publishes its own policy on its own domain.

Your rights — EU/EEA and United Kingdom

For email you choose to send us, our legal basis is your consent and our legitimate interest in answering you (GDPR / UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and 6(1)(f)); for hosting logs it is legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)). You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection — email hello@drivenerve.com and we will act within one month. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority. Data is processed on servers within the EU.

United States

We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) or similar state laws, and we collect nothing beyond a voluntarily provided email address. Residents of California and other states with privacy laws may exercise access and deletion rights by email; we honor them for everyone regardless of location. If we ever send commercial email, it will follow CAN-SPAM: honest subject lines, a working unsubscribe and our operator contact in every message.

Canada

Under PIPEDA we collect personal information only with your knowledge and consent, for the single stated purpose. We send no commercial electronic messages; if that ever changes, CASL's consent-first rules apply — every message will identify us and carry an unsubscribe mechanism actioned within 10 days.

Australia and New Zealand

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles and the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020: minimal collection, stated purpose, no disclosure to third parties, access and correction on request. We send no commercial emails; any future ones would follow the Spam Act 2003 (AU) and the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007 (NZ): consent first, sender identified, functional unsubscribe.

Security

The site is static, served over HTTPS with strict security headers, and has no databases or user accounts to breach. Correspondence lives in a single access-controlled mailbox. The best security feature remains the architecture: we cannot lose what we never collect.
